Spiraea japonica 'Gold Mound' compact, spreading deciduous shrub, with young golden-yellow leaves, becoming lime green in summer, and flat sprays of small pale pink flowers in summer. After summer the leaves start to turn a reddish pinky orange.
Flowers in summer, great colour in autumn, it is an easy plant, perhaps for problem areas. First hybridised in 1982 by Tony Hubert in Laval, Quebec. Apparently millions have been sold since it was first introduced!
Tony Huber received several awards during his lifetime including the prestigious Henry Teuscher Award given in 1999 by the Montreal Botanical Garden for his lifelong commitment to horticulture.
