Strelitzia reginae / Bird of Paradise Plant Pot Size: 9cm Plant height: 20-30cm
The Bird of Paradise is considered an excellent choice for the indoor plant world. This large, upright plant adds a rich, tropical flair to your space as its glossy, banana-shaped leaves fan out. It is relatively hardy and adapts to a wide spectrum of light conditions from direct sun to low, indirect light, but will flourish in a sunny spot.
Light Conditions: Best suited to a bright location, not direct sunlight. It will also work in partial shade.
Water: Water regularly in spring & summer, sparingly in the winter. The soil should always stay slightly moist, but please do not allow to stand in the water. Do not water in a dish from underneath, but instead on top of the root ball. This way you can make sure that the smaller palm trees with shorter roots get enough water. If you notice your plant’s leaves splitting, this is natural. This is to protect their large leaves from snapping from rain and wind.
Temperature & Humidity: Plant thrives best in temperatures between 18°C & 26°C. The Bird of Paradise prefers a humid environment. Add a pebble tray or a humidifier nearby if you notice crispy leaf edges.
Height & Growth Rate: The plant may take up to four years to flower if grown indoors. Typically, the height of an indoor bird of paradise is between 3 and 6 feet / 1m - 1.8m.
Feed: Feed from early spring, once a month to ensure lush green growth. Finish feeding in autumn.
Origin: South Africa
Toxicity: Toxic to Humans and Pets if Ingested
